Want to enjoy the sport of recreational slow pitch softball?

Welcome to Walnut Creek Senior Softball – The “CREAKERS”

Are you interested in the premier senior slow pitch softball league in the Walnut Creek California area? You are invited to join the “CREAKERS” a young group of softball enthusiasts who ages start in the fifties and go all the way through the eighties. The Walnut Creek Creaker Organization is open to all who are over the age of 50, and have sufficient skills to participate. The CREAKERS are a part of the Walnut Creek Seniors Club (WCSC) (a non-profit 501(c)(3) corporation) and all players must be a member of the WCSC in order to participate in CREAKER Softball.  The Creakers are an all-volunteer, amateur, player supported league.

All of our games and practices are in the mornings starting around 9:00 am, Monday thru Friday and are played at the ball fields at Heather Farms Park or Rudgear Park in Walnut Creek. Our season starts with our annual meeting in February and team practices starting in March. Our regular season goes through August. Tournament games are usually held in late August with an awards BBQ at the end of the Tournament. A relaxed, no records kept, Fall/Winter season begins in September and runs through February.

This year we have over 250 registered players in over fifteen teams in three core divisions: American, National and Continental.

American Division: Consists of four or more teams with 15-16 players per team. Players have above average to outstanding skills for playing seniors softball and are able to play safely at a more competitive level. Some players have played competitive softball for many years and many of them still play on tournament teams. In the American Division the players are “younger”, faster, more agile and play at a more competitive level. Players range in age from 50-75 with an average age of 65. These teams play on Tuesdays with games starting at 9:30 am.

National Division: Consists of eight or more teams with 15-17 players per team. Players have average to above average skills for playing seniors softball and are able to play safely at a competitive level. Some players have played softball for many years; and some still play on tournament teams. In the National Division the players are a little older but still relatively fast and agile enough to play at a competitive but safe level. Players range in age from 55-85 with an average age of around 70. These teams play on Thursdays at 9:30am.

Continental Division: Consists of four teams with 16-17 players per team. This division is for players newer to softball and/or their current abilities make this a more relaxed, less competitive league and a more appropriate fit for their skill set. In the Continental Division the players are “older”, slower and generally less agile. However, once on the field we feel like we’re Buster Posey when we get that hit or make that play at home plate! Players range in age from 65-90 with an average age of 78. In order to ensure that there are sufficient players, some people play on both the National and Continental teams. Those games are played on Tuesdays with a 9:30am first pitch.
